من أحد المشاكل التي تواجه الصناعات الكيماوية والهندسية علي مستوي مصر والعالم هي مشكلة تاكل الفلزات في المنشئات المعدنية، بالاخص في قطاعات البترول ، الصناعات الكيماوية، البتروكيماوية ، انظمة التبريد ، الغلايات، والسيارات. هذه المشكلة تكلف الاقتصاد الوطني خسائر فادحة. من احد الطرق المستخدمة لمكافحة هذه المشكلة هي استخدام الاضافات الكيماوية مثل مثبطات التاكل والرواسب والقشور. **هذه الاضافات يتم تقييمها قبل استخدمها في الوسط المستهدف علي الفلز او السبيكة المستخدمة في المنشأة الصناعية. يجب ان تحقق بعض الشروط قبل استخدامها وعلي رأسها الكفاءة العالية.

One of the main problems facing the chemical and engineering industries in Egypt and worldwide is the corrosion of metals and scale formation in different sectors such as petroleum, chemical industries, petrochemicals, cooling systems, boilers, and cars. This problem costs the national economy huge cost losses. One of the mitigation methods used to overcome this problem is using of chemical additives such as corrosion and scale inhibitors. These additives are evaluated before being used in the targeted environment and for the specific metal and/or alloy used industrially. These additives must meet some specifications before being used, particularly cost-effectiveness and performance. A research team from the Advanced Materials Technology and Mineral Resources Research Institute - National Research Centre prepared and tested highly efficient corrosion and scale inhibitors for the protection of metals and alloys used in the industrial sector as an alternative to imported chemical additives, which will have a tangible return on the national economy.
