Beeswax substitutes (polyferrofluid) are bio-derived materials produced by honey-associated bacteria cultured on nutrient media formulated from commercially available sugars or low-cost agricultural byproducts such as rice straw or banana peels. This eco-friendly and cost-effective process yields a versatile bioproduct suitable for various therapeutic and cosmetic applications. The polyferrofluid serves as a key ingredient in the formulation of therapeutic creams designed to alleviate inflammation and promote wound healing. Due to its strong antimicrobial activity and superior moisturizing properties, it provides effective protection against external aggressors while enhancing skin regeneration. In addition to topical use, the product can be formulated as a natural therapeutic syrup to support immunity and relieve coughs and chest infections, or incorporated as a nutritional supplement in lactose-free dairy products, offering both health and functional benefits. Comparable imported products currently available in the Egyptian market include Genabelle and Cicalfate creams, priced between 375 and 4,820 EGP, as well as Levan (Sigma), imported at €354 per gram (approximately 19,430 EGP). Clinical evaluations have demonstrated that this locally produced beeswax substitute is 100% effective in wound healing and microbial protection, with proven safety and efficacy in in vitro and cellular tests.
